Best time for Round Annapurna Trek
The best time to trek the Round Annapurna is during the spring and autumn seasons in Nepal. These periods offer the most favorable weather conditions, clear skies, and optimal temperatures for trekking.
Spring Season (March to May)
Spring is one of the most popular times to trek in the Annapurna Region, which includes the Round Annapurna Trek. During this season:
Weather Conditions: The weather is generally mild and pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C at lower elevations, while higher elevations are cooler.
Clear Views: The skies are typically clear, providing stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuichhre.
Flora: The rhododendron forests are in full bloom, creating a vibrant landscape with colorful flowers and lush greenery.
Crowds: This is a popular trekking season, and the Round Annapurna trail remains more crowded than other treks in the Annapurna Region.
Autumn Season (September to November)
Autumn is another ideal time to trek the Round Annapurna Trek. During this season:
Weather Conditions: The weather is stable with clear skies, low humidity, and pleasant temperatures, similar to spring. Daytime temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C at lower elevations, while it is cooler at higher altitudes.
Clear Views: Autumn is known for its crisp air, providing excellent visibility of the surrounding peaks and landscapes.
Festivals: This season aligns with major Nepali festivals like Dashain and Tihar, offering cultural insights and opportunities to experience local traditions.
Crowds: Autumn is the peak trekking season in Nepal, and the Round Annapurna Trek trail is more crowded compared to other treks.
Off-Season Considerations
While spring and autumn are the best time for the Round Annapurna Trek, some trekkers prefer off-season trekking for a unique experience. However, these periods come with challenges:
Winter Season (December to February): Trekking in winter offers solitude and stunning snowy landscapes, but temperatures can drop significantly, especially at higher elevations. Trails might be icy, and some teahouses could be closed.
Monsoon Season (June to August): The monsoon brings heavy rain, making trails slippery and increasing the risk of landslides and leeches. The clouds and rain can also obstruct mountain views.
Overall, spring and autumn offer the best combination of weather, views, and cultural experiences, making them the ideal times to trek the Round Annapurna. If you’re planning a trip during the off-season, be prepared for additional challenges and always check weather forecasts and trail conditions in advance.

There are methods to reduce the likelihood of experiencing altitude sickness, although it cannot be entirely avoided. Proper acclimatization, walking at a comfortable pace, staying well-hydrated, ascending gradually and descending for sleep, and consuming nutritious meals are crucial measures. Additionally, our guides will recommend further strategies to minimize the risks associated with altitude sickness.
Discovery World Trekking offers lodge-to-lodge lodging options where you will primarily be accommodated in twin-sharing rooms featuring squat-style toilets typically located outside the rooms. The rooms are equipped with essential amenities, such as basic blankets and pillows. Nevertheless, it is recommended that you bring a sleeping bag for added warmth. Additionally, hot water for showers is available for an extra charge.
We advise against consuming water from local sources like taps, wells, and rivers in trekking areas due to potential contamination. Instead, you have the option to purchase bottled mineral water from hotels and roadside shops. Alternatively, for environmental considerations, it is preferable to bring a reusable water bottle and refill it with boiled water available for purchase at hotels or tea houses.
If you possess moderate fitness levels, you can definitely finish this trek. Nonetheless, maintaining a positive mindset and displaying strong determination will be beneficial. Individuals with heart, lung, or blood disorders should seek advice from their doctor before making reservations for this trek.
The journey is demanding, and while having prior trekking experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. If you are physically fit and possess a strong determination, you should be able to successfully finish this trek.
Trekking through the remote regions of Nepal at high altitudes, such as Annapurna, requires mandatory travel insurance. Your insurance policy should include coverage for helicopter rescue up to the trek's highest point and associated treatment expenses.
Typically, you have the option to access Wi-Fi at tea houses or lodges during your stay by paying a modest fee.
Porters play a crucial role in our trekking expeditions, with the allocation of one porter for every two trekkers. However, each porter is limited to carrying a maximum of 18 kg of luggage. Consequently, the weight limit per trekker is set at 9 kg.
If you experience allergies to any medications, it is advisable to consult with your doctor and carry your own prescribed medicines. Nonetheless, as a conscientious trek and tour company, Discovery World Trekking ensures the provision of medical kits to mitigate the risk of altitude sickness and other potential illnesses.
Certainly. Absolutely. We will offer you an abundance of nourishing and clean vegetarian meals by carefully choosing the finest lodges/teahouses in the trekking area. In fact, we advise all our trekkers to opt for vegetarian options, as the quality of meat in remote trekking regions may not be up to hygiene standards.
